Static tonearm SAEC WE-308N (1978, JPY 38,000)
The SAEC WE-308 is designed to offer the new reference standard of tone arm engineering for the serious audiophile. The Audio Engineering's remarkable approach toward the perfection of disc sound is crystallized in the WE-308's unique construction, the Double Knife Edge.
The Double Knife Edge had two blades in the past. Currently, it was made to include four blades up and down providing a structure in which the edge support is held firmly from both sides and from the top. Since these four blades are ground to form a straight line, they practically constitute a high strength pivoting body with the straight line as turning axis and with no mechanical free play.

SAEC knife edge blade has a diameter of less than 0,02mm and is ultra-precise. This finish precision sets SAEC apart from other makers. The edge is first ground to 0,05mm by a machine and then to 0,02mm by a skilled human hand.

This newer construction covers up disadvantages of conventional knife edge type tone arms.

The Double Knife Edge provides the lowest friction level and highest sensitive movement of the tone arm ever achieved.

Therefore, the WE-308 with any advanced cartridge tracks the record groove with less distortion than ever and reproduces clear directionality, pinpoint placement of instruments and phenomenal cleanness of the disc sound.

The SAEC WE-308 itself is a precision-balanced arm. The three-axis of the arm is meticulously balanced so it practically results in no loss of sensitivity.

Fine adjustments of the tracking force are automatically carried out as the arm tracks to the inner grooves of a record. This special device, along with the light weight and lowest resonance "ultimate" headshell, provides more faithful reproduction of sound. On the most inner groove, for example, it oes a remarkable job with 20% more tracking force that results in clear and open high frequency response information.

Static tonearm SAEC WE-308SX (1978, JPY 75,000)
The SAEC WE-308SX arm design is based upon research done by the Sansui Electric Co. The AES preprint 1390 (D-5) derived the optimum pivot position from a kinematic point of view, with the mass of the arm, the location of the center of gravity, and the moment of inertia around the system's center of gravity. Resonance was the engineering problem being solved. For this particular arm, it is not advised to optimize the geometry, or the resonance of the system will change to such an extent that the arm will not track properly.

A hard mineral – ruby– is used for the contact portions of the bearing of WE-308SX, increasing sensitivity and preventing deterioration over time.

SAEC strive to conceal the part surrounding the bearing axis and knife edges portion to strengthen it.

SAEC improved crosstalk by as much as 20dB in by mounting the mechanical equalizer device.

Static tonearm SAEC WE-407/23 (1980, JPY 67,000)
Tonearm using small double knife edge. The manufacturing precision of WE-407/23 is increased; we deliver precision level of more than ±0,05mm. Also, owing to the latest high-precision manufacturing technologies and state of the art craftsmanship work we have succeeded at downsizing the double knife edge and thus achieved flexibility in regard to light, high-compliance cartridges.

By adding the mechanical equalizer which optimally filters low pass resonance and by using the newly developed mechanical damping construction, we have succeeded at decreasing Qo without sacrificing critical functions.

A tonearm has been produced that performs optimally with all cartridges, whether low mass or high, lower compliance or high compliance type.
The WE-407EX and WE-407/23 a achieve greater rigidity and stability under all conditions than any previous tonearm — and in a compact design.
The newly designed mechanical damping mechanism. Greater than ever precision in craftsmanship, and improved rigidity of the internal works and bearing reinforcement, combine to raise the WE-407EX and WE-407/23 to a performance class never attained before.
With any cartridge, you can be sure of perfect mechanical and electrical compatibility, and fully accurate and distortion-free tracking of any record.

Static tonearm SAEC WE-506/30 (1978, JPY 86,000)
The studio use tonearm designed to deliver the highest quality performance at all times. The bearing has a double knife edge structure.

A hard mineral – ruby – is used for the contact portions of bearing of WE-506/30 to increase sensitivity and prevent changes over time.

The arm pipe itself is constructed of a special light alloy, a byproduct of French aeronautical technology. The patented Double Knife Edge design along with such refinements as our high-purity, high-density headshell and a unique mechanism for gradually increasing tracking force toward the center of a record, make possible unprecedented tracking ability at very low stylus pressure, remarkably improved clarity of reproduction, lower distortion in the high range, greater dynamic range, reduced scratch and hysteresis noise and the virtual elimination of needle-talk. Moreover, at the first resonant frequency, crosstalk is improved by approximately 20dB, depending on the efficiency of the cartridge in use.

These and other advantages are displayed fully by the WE-506/30 tonearm at all times, even in demanding professional studio use.

The mechanical equalizer is mounted.

The lateral balancer and automatic stylus pressure minute increase device are mounted.

Static tonearm SAEC WE-8000/ST (1983, JPY 108,000)
The job of a tonearm, simply put, is to move lightly across the surface of a record holding the cartridge ever so steady on its course. With high compliance cartridges, the force that moves the arm is very weak. A long arm is actually easier to move - that's because the friction area around the axis Is small relative to the total size of the arm. Loss due to friction is reduced, and it is possible to design a precision tone arm of high sensitivity.

High compliance cartridges require a tonearm that is both rigid and low in effective mass. A light arm is more resistant to torsion than J-shaped or S-shaped arms. It can be made lighter without sacrificing rigidity. Only a straight arm can be long, light, and rigid.
