WE-407/ST Reference Medium Mass Straight Tonearm
for Cartridge Evaluation and System Matching
The fonolab WE-407/ST is the result of many years of practical work with analogue systems, cartridges and transformer interfaces.
Originally developed as an internal reference tool and used extensively during the development of the QVATTVOR, DECVS and SVPER projects, the WE-407/ST gradually became an essential part of the fonolab analogue platform.
Rather than recreating a vintage tonearm, our goal was to preserve the unique advantages of the classic SAEC architecture while integrating modern materials, bearings, wiring and setup solutions required by contemporary analogue systems.
The result is a tonearm designed for cartridge stability, predictable behaviour and accurate system matching.
Architecture
The WE-407/ST combines the legendary SAEC Double Knife Edge bearing system with the proven geometry of the flagship WE-8000/ST.
This approach preserves the unique mechanical characteristics of the original SAEC design while offering straightforward cartridge alignment and compatibility with modern cartridge setups.
